‘Doesn’t give the ball away’: Ross McCormack loving what he is seeing from £6m Leeds man

Ross McCormack has told BBC Radio Leeds that Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara does not give the ball away, but his performance for the Whites on Saturday is something he has seen, year after year.

Kamara, 28, has starred for Leeds since joining the club for £6m from Rangers in the summer. He is now first choice in the midfield with Ethan Ampadu, starting five of the last seven Championship matches.

On Saturday, he was excellent as he lasted the entire 90 minutes for Leeds in our easy 4-1 win over local rivals Huddersfield Town. Braces from Dan James and Cree Summerville did the damage in the first 45.

Of course, Kamara has followed McCormack’s career somewhat – by leaving Rangers and ending up at Elland Road. Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the match, McCormack gave his take on the midfielder.

“Pretty much nine times out of 10, that’s what you’ll get from Glen. He doesn’t give the ball away, he’ll go and win it back and he keeps the play ticking over. He’s got good quality,” McCormack said, on Saturday.

“That performance today didn’t surprise me. I’ve seen him do that nearly every game for the past I don’t know how many years,” ex-Leeds captain McCormack continued on BBC Radio Leeds, after the 4-1 win.

Ross McCormack says Leeds man Glen Kamara has good quality

Kamara deserves his spot in the side as first choice. He has been sensational this season since coming in, even though he has been made to wait for his chance. He has taken it with both hands for Leeds.

Of course, everyone knew he was a player. One that has won the League at Rangers, and got to the Europa League final. For just £6m, there was always potential that Kamara could be a Leeds bargain.

He is certainly proving to be that at Elland Road. Archie Gray is going to have his work cut out in winning his place back in midfield – likely to return next Friday on the right side of the Leeds United defence.
