Disciplinary action taken against Leeds ace with two clubs keen, as Jack Harrison exits

The Daily Mail claim that disciplinary action has been taken against Willy Gnonto by Leeds United after refusing to play against Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City – with Everton and Aston Villa interested in signing the Italian.

Gnonto, 19, started and lasted 82 minutes against Cardiff City on the opening day of the season. But ahead of the Carabao Cup first-round clash against Shrewsbury, Gnonto informed Daniel Farke that he did not want to be picked.

Then, having trained on Thursday and Friday, and while the team were boarding the bus to travel to Birmingham, the Leeds ace informed Farke his head was still not right. Luis Sinisterra too, with the Colombian wary of a knee knock.

Now, The Mail report that Leeds have taken disciplinary action against Gnonto for making himself unavailable for the games – while he is still paid by Leeds. The report also says that Everton, and Aston Villa, are interested in a move.

There are rumours emerging on Twitter that Gnonto could be about to perform a u-turn. Jermaine Beckford has said that there is a way back for the ex-Inter and Zurich man – but only if he knuckles down. An apology will be needed.

But Everton and Aston Villa are also keen on a move for Gnonto and it might be that he ends up in the top tier after all, potentially combining with Jack Harrison at Goodison Park. Villa tried to sign Harrison, before joining Everton.

It feels as if it is going to be a decisive week for Gnonto, for Leeds and for the rest of the players that want to leave Elland Road. We really need signings in at Elland Road now, even if it means reducing the standard of player signed.
