Leeds United and AS Roma are now finally close to agreeing a deal for the transfer of Rasmus Kristensen.
That is according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports after a ‘few days of standby’ between the two clubs, an agreement has moved closer today.
Kristensen is set to make the switch to Roma on ‘dry loan’, meaning no obligation or option-to-buy will be included in the deal for in 12 months’ time.
The 26-year-old would become the second Leeds player to make the same move to the Italian capital this summer, with Diego Llorente already having sealed his loan switch at the weekend.
Llorente, too, also joined without the option to make it permanent, meaning Leeds are likely to be left with both players on their books next year.
Kristensen now close to making Roma loan move
This is both good and bad news for Leeds. While it is positive they are getting another player off the wage bill, the lack of permanent clause in the transfer is disappointing.
Kristensen’s exit will finally open the door for Cody Drameh to be handed his long-awaited chance in the first team, providing they can fend off Premier League interest in him.
The Denmark international was set to be part of the travelling party that made the trip to Oslo today ahead of tomorrow’s friendly with Manchester United, having returned to Thorp Arch on Monday.
Kristensen looked in decent spirits based on the content Leeds put out across their social media channels, though it remains to be seen whether this latest update has indeed changed the club’s plans on his involvement tomorrow.
He would become Leeds’ fifth major loan exit of the summer following Robin Koch, Llorente, Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca, with the latter set to finalise his move to Real Betis imminently.
