Weston McKennie has told a USA press conference – as per YouTube channel JER Sports Journalist – that it was “devastating” to hear that Leeds star Tyler Adams had picked up a hamstring injury and missing from USA duty.

McKennie scored a brace and Brenden Aaronson got another one as USA smashed Grenada 7-1 win in the first of two international fixtures this week. On Monday night they go up against El Salvador before returning to their clubs.

Adams, who captained USA during the World Cup, picked up a hamstring injury before the win over Wolves and was ruled out from travelling as part of USA’s squad. It remains unclear if the midfielder will be fit to play against Arsenal.

Asked about Adams absence in a press conference following the win over Grenada, McKennie spoke about Adams. He said: “Devastating what happened, obviously. Hopefully he recovers quickly, and he can be back with us soon.”

McKennie: Devastating to hear Leeds star Adams had picked up injury

It has certainly been a devastating couple of weeks in regards to the injury front. Adams suffered the muscle issue in training, and then Max Wober was substituted in Austria’s 4-1 win over Azerbaijan, picking up a left thigh injury.

Then, on Sunday, Willy Gnonto was forced off the field of play after twisting his ankle in a 2-0 win over Malta. Again, another blow. Just as the Leeds squad were fully fit and Javi Gracia had a full team, his side have three new injuries.

But, the next game is away at Arsenal. A game in which was always going to be viewed as a bit of a free hit in the grand scheme of things. It is not the end of the world if the trio are missing for that. It is key they are fit for Forest.
