Declan Rice discusses relegation scrap as West Ham join Leeds in the bottom three

Declan Rice has told Sky Sports that he is not bothered by the likes of Leeds United or other teams in and around West Ham, in the fight against relegation – after his side slipped to another defeat at the hands of Tottenham on Sunday.

Emerson Royal and Son Heung-min got the goals as Spurs eased to a 2-0 win in the London clash. A result that saw West Ham join Leeds in the relegation zone. Bournemouth, Southampton and to our despair, Everton picked up wins.

Bournemouth’s win over Wolves arguably hauled the latter back into the relegation scrap. Wolves are now on 23 points from 15 games. Everton and Bournemouth on 21, West Ham on 20, Leeds in 19th on 19 and Southampton last, on 18.

It is all to play for – with 15 Premier League matches still to play. But, Leeds look down in the dumps with other teams winning in and around us. One thing that could change the negative aura is definitely, bringing in a new manager.

Rice commented on the fight for survival: “There’s six or seven teams in and around us. Obviously I see the results but I’m not too worried about how other teams are doing. We’re the only ones that can change ourselves where we are.

“I’m not too bothered about them, I’m only bothered about us and doing what we can week-in, week-out. Now we know we’ve got a big one next week against [Nottingham] Forest,” Rice told Sky Sports, as quoted by Leeds Live.

Rice not bothered by Leeds or other teams in fight against relegation

The original belief, prior to this weekend, was that Southampton and Bournemouth were down – and it would be between us and Everton to go with them. But Southampton and Bournemouth picked up huge wins out of nowhere.

We lost to a huge relegation rival, and now we look closer than ever to a return to the Championship. West Ham’s recent upturn in form has subsided and with Europe returning for the Hammers, they may struggle to cope.

Wolves, Forest, Leicester and Palace sit ahead. Wolves looked good but lost, so it will be interesting to see how they bounce back. Forest and Leicester are in good form, but Palace have won just one of their last 10. All to play for.
