David Seaman has told his Seaman Says Podcast that he changed channel when Crystal Palace scored their third goal against Leeds United on Sunday – and summed up perfectly what it feels like to be a fan of the Yorkshire club.
The 5-1 defeat leaves Leeds in 16th place. Going into the match, there was genuine cause for optimism given the win over Forest – and a win over Palace would have opened up a five-point gap between Leeds and the drop zone.
Instead, Leeds sit in 16th just two above 18th-placed Nottingham Forest – with Liverpool next on Monday. A Reds side that were impressive during a 2-2 draw with League Leaders Arsenal last time out, also on Sunday afternoon.
Seaman discussed the heavy loss. He says it sums up what it is like to be a Leeds fan – good one minute, and then worried the next. Seaman also shared how he flicked over to watch The Masters, when Palace made it 3-1.
“I didn’t watch it to five, I turned it over at 3-1 and started watching the Masters. I couldn’t watch any more,” the former England and Arsenal goalkeeper and one time Elland Road youth prospect told the Seaman Says podcast.
“And then I flicked it back over, and I was like, ‘oh no, it’s five’. It was a tough day but Leeds have got Liverpool next. That’s the thing with Leeds, one week you think your ok, and then the next week your back down the bottom again.”
