David Prutton has shared his prediction for Leeds United’s home match against Coventry City this afternoon.
Leeds were beaten 1-0 at Sunderland on Tuesday night with the gap to the automatic promotion places now at 10 points, after Ipswich Town and Leicester City were both victorious.
Daniel Farke has no new injuries to contend with heading into the game, but will still be without both Sam Byram and Junior Firpo, meaning Djed Spence may have to fill in at left-back again.
Despite the disappointment of midweek, Leeds should still be full of confidence heading into the match having won all of their last seven matches at Elland Road.
And writing in his latest EFL predictions column for Sky Sports, Prutton has backed Leeds to get back to winning ways against a Coventry side who could be leggy after facing Southampton on Wednesday.
Farke needs to freshen it up for Leeds win
He said: “Leeds have as many points after 21 games as Burnley did last season. The difference is the Clarets did not have to contend with the runaway pace of Leicester and Ipswich, which has made setbacks like the one at Sunderland in midweek seem disastrous.
“Coventry are ticking along and improving. They were held by Southampton in midweek, and it will be interesting to see how much chasing around against the Saints will have taken out of them as they head to Elland Road. But I’m tipping Leeds to bounce back and win. Prediction: Leeds 2-1 Coventry.”
Coventry had just 28 per cent of the ball on Wednesday night against Southampton and so will have spent a lot of the game chasing around.
With the extra 24 hours of recovery Leeds had, Farke should look to freshen up his starting XI to catch the visitors out with a quick start, and come away with three points.
