Jack Harrison opened his account for Everton on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Goodison Park, and both Gary Lineker and Danny Murphy were impressed by the out-on-loan Leeds United star.

Harrison got his first start after recovering from an injury he sustained while at Leeds. Joining Everton on loan in the summer, Harrison made his debut in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa, a 2-1 win.

After a sub outing in a 2-1 loss to Luton Town, he started on Saturday as Everton played host to Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth. He got a goal and an assist in the 3-0 win, scoring a delightful lob from 25 yards.

A corner was cleared and fell to Harrison – and with Neto off his line, Harrison used the bouncing ball to great effect, lifting it over the Brazilian stopper. Murphy and Lineker praised him on Match of the Day.

Murphy said, on Saturday night following the Leeds star’s goal: “Harrison, who’s come into the team from Leeds, what a finish. What a great performance from him as well, really positive in his play.”

Lineker added, while presenting Match of the Day aired on BBC One – following Everton’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth: “Cracking finish it was too. A very important and impressive victory for Everton.”

A gorgeous goal, and a sign that Harrison is clearly a Premier League player. A brilliant win for Everton, Harrison helping Sean Dyche’s men turn around a dismal start to 23/24 – only their second League win.

While it would have been a massive boost for Leeds to keep Harrison, it is clear that he is a player – especially at this stage of his career – needs to be playing in the top tier. Hopefully, Leeds can return.

Then, have a chance of convincing the ex-Manchester City man to remain at Elland Road. His loan to Everton is not believed to include a permanent clause and that gives us a chance in keeping him.
