Monday night saw Leeds United open their Premier League campaign, beating Everton 1-0 at Elland Road.
Leeds United were dealt a tough opening game of the Premier League season at home to David Moyes’ Everton. But in the end, Leeds were the much better side on the night as Daniel Farke’s side claimed a much-welcomed opening day victory.
Leeds United beat Everton 1-0 thanks to a late Lukas Nmecha goal on his debut from the penalty spot.
He is one of two striker signings for Farke this summer, along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin who joined Leeds United last week.

Former Leeds United transfer target Beto has a stinker for Everton
Last week, Leeds confirmed the signing of Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer following his release from Everton. But the 28-year-old hasn’t had a pre-season so he wasn’t involved in the side that played Everton on Monday night. And as it goes, he is not the only player at Goodison Park who Leeds United have been linked with this summer.
Another one was Beto. Earlier in the summer, reports linked Leeds United with Everton striker Beto and it prompted a mixed reaction from Leeds fans. Leeds United fans said they never wanted the signing of Beto and it looks like he’s staying at Everton for the time being.
Though on Monday night, Toffees fans were certainly unimpressed with the Portuguese striker.

Everton fans blast Beto after ‘woeful’ Leeds United performance
Everton fans were disappointed with the result overall and specifically disappointed with the performance of Beto. Plenty of fans criticised the 27-year-old on X with one comment reading: “Beto has been shocking, the ball just bounces off him, looks completely disinterested.”
Another Everton fan posted: “Beto is not a Premier League standard footballer and a similar comment read one of the worst centre-forward performances ever witnessed from Beto.”
Meanwhile, other Toffees supporters weighed in with: “Beto was absolutely woeful last night,” and: “Beto’s display has to be the pick of the lot.”
Another fan joked: “Did Beto play tonight or did we play with 10 men?”
It’s certainly a bullet dodged for Leeds United though Farke will just be hoping that Calvert-Lewin can stay fit and quickly rediscover his scoring form from seasons gone by.
