Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has completed a season-long loan move to Ipswich Town amid reports that Daniel Farke and Leeds United wanted the left-back – with Ipswich confirming a move.
Williams, 22, managed just one senior outing for Manchester United last season with Erik ten Hag clearly not fancying the player. Indeed, Tyrell Malacia was pretty much signed immediately after ten Hag joined.
So, with Williams entering the final 12 months of his contract this summer, it was always likely he was on his way. Farke actually worked with Williams while Norwich manager, albeit for a short period in 2021-22.
The Independent said earlier this month that a reunion between Farke and Williams was on the cards, putting aside rivalry to swap Manchester United for rivals Leeds. But, that has not proven to be the case.
However, reports that Kieran McKenna was set to raid his old side to sign Williams emerged this week and now – Williams has joined Ipswich. He has signed in time to play against Leeds, on Saturday.

Well, Williams would certainly have been a solid option on the bench – and offers versatility on both sides of the defence. But, he was hardly going to start. Sam Byram seems to be doing a brilliant job.
Another ex-Norwich man, but also ex-Leeds, Byram has come in and surprised many with the level of his performances. Williams is a good player – but you’d argue Leif Davis will start over him at Ipswich.
However, he could play on the right as McKenna prepares his side to welcome Leeds to Portman Road on Saturday. Ipswich have won all four games so far – but momentum is building at Elland Road.
