QPR have confirmed that Tyler Roberts will return to Leeds United this summer despite the Championship side having the option to sign the Welshman permanently.

It proved to be a difficult campaign for the 24-year-old. The forward only made 18 appearances in the league in a season disrupted by injury.

Ultimately, the season ended on a high for Gareth Ainsworth’s side. They managed to arrest their dramatic slide down the table to stay up in the final weeks of the campaign.

QPR confirm Tyler Roberts decision

There appeared to be a question mark over what that may mean for Tyler Roberts‘ future at Loftus Road. According to a recent report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, QPR have the option to make his move permanent.

Roberts took to Instagram to say goodbye to the fans after the regular season concluded in the second tier. And QPR have now confirmed on their official website that he will return to Leeds as they published their retained list.

Of course, it is hard to say what the future holds for Roberts at Leeds. There is a huge question mark over what is going to happen with the Whites. They are in the midst of a relegation battle. And they look set to be on the lookout for another manager this summer.

If Leeds stay up, it is hard to see Roberts sticking around. He has definitely had some very bright moments in the Premier League. It is not spoken about enough just how good Roberts was for a period in the second-half of our first season back in the top-flight.

He is someone who divides fans. But there was a reason Marcelo Bielsa put so much faith in him.

And if Leeds end up going down to the Championship, they could do a lot worse than keep Roberts in the fold during what is bound to be a summer of major upheaval.
