After a run of six defeats in seven going into December, no one saw Leeds United then going unbeaten for the next seven or even, Daniel Farke remaining in the hotseat.
But that’s exactly what Daniel Farke’s side have done, and it has saved Farke’s job. Two wins, five draws and 11 points in seven games have seen Leeds go from 18th place, to eight points clear of West Ham.
The table makes for pretty reading for those of a Leeds persuasion. There is a slight feeling of frustration after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Man United, which shows how far Leeds have come in the last few weeks.
Realistically, how long can Leeds United’s unbeaten run go on for?
Daniel Farke has overseen Leeds' longest Premier League unbeaten run since David O'Leary in 2001
However, Leeds are not safe yet. There are still 18 Premier League matches to play and Farke will know that his side must stay above the point a game line in order to survive in England’s top tier of football.
Chris Sutton changes his mind about Leeds United
The footballing world is starting to believe that Leeds will stay up. Paul Merson believes West Ham will be relegated after their 3-0 hammering by Wolves, with Wolves still only on six points and Burnley on 12.

Chris Sutton has always been a staunch defender of Farke, but he felt Leeds would be relegated. However, Sutton admits he has now changed his mind about Leeds and thinks the Whites will secure survival.
“I have changed my mind. The run Leeds have been on has been sensational. DCL has been a big part of that, even going to Anfield and getting a draw. You look solid at the back,” Sutton said on BBC’s 606.
“I am absolutely delighted for Daniel Farke. I thought it was difficult for him coming into the PL, people saying ‘oh he can’t manage in the PL’. He didn’t have a chance at Norwich,” the former Celtic man said.

Leeds United’s next five fixtures are slightly more winnable
What is remarkable is that Leeds have had it tough over Christmas. Liverpool twice, Man United, Chelsea, FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, and then Sunderland and Brentford away, both very tough fixtures.
Yet, they’ve remained unbeaten. Next up is Newcastle away, another tough outing, but things do get a bit easier. Three home games in four after that, coming against Fulham, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest.
In between those, a trip to Everton, who are struggling at their new stadium. While Newcastle away and of course, Arsenal, will be tough, home games against Fulham and Forest hand Leeds a real chance to win.
