Charlie Cresswell has given his verdict on each member of England’s Under-21 Euros squad and has described Manchester City man Taylor Harwood-Bellis as a “great player” – amid reports in 2021 that Leeds were interested.
The Manchester Evening News said in 2021 that Leeds were among a handful of Premier League clubs considering a move for the England U21 man. However, he went on loan to Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht in that summer.
Then, with Kompany taking over at Burnley last summer, the Belgian signed the defender from his old club for a second time. Harwood-Bellis returns to Manchester City, having helped Burnley gain a place in the Premier League.
While his future will be in doubt as Burnley eye a move to sign him permanently, his focus will be on England’s U21 campaign which gets underway today. England start their campaign against the Czech Republic at 5pm in Georgia.
Cresswell gave his verdict on the City man, who is about to enter the last year of his deal at The Etihad: “Taylor’s the joker of the group. He brings the energy, he’s great to have around. Such a loud voice and a great player as well.”

Harwood-Bellis starred for Burnley last season and is widely expected to be on the move again, having surely done enough to earn a move to a Premier League club – most likely, back to Burnley. But, nothing has materialised yet.
It is unclear if Harwood-Bellis will join Burnley this summer, on a permanent basis. If he doesn’t, then Leeds should really consider a move. The Whites are set to lose Robin Koch and Diego Llorente in the middle of the defence.
While Cresswell comes in, the Whites may feel they need another central defender and if there is a chance of being able to lure Harwood-Bellis to Elland Road – then it is an option the club have got to take. Unlikely, as things stand.
