Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell has told the club’s Tik Tok during a quick-fire Q&A session that the fixture he is looking forward to the most is Millwall at Elland Road – but he will have to wait until March 16 until the game.
Cresswell, 20, has returned to Elland Road and after winning the European Championships with the U21’s, he has played in friendlies against Monaco, Forest and then Hearts. He has been given the no.5 shirt, signing a new deal.
His new contract will see Cresswell stay at Elland Road until 2027, with his previous deal expiring next summer. The centre-back is expected to play a crucial role at Leeds this season – even if the club want to sign another defender.
Cresswell has proved he can hack it in the Championship after impressing for Millwall on loan last season, playing 35 times, scoring five goals, nearly winning a play-off place. The Sun said Leeds were open to his exit in January.
A fee of £4m, with Middlesbrough interested in the England U21 star. But, Cresswell has remained and is one of a handful of players that could now benefit from the club being relegated. He said he is looking forward to Millwall (H).

There were suggestions at the start of the summer that Cresswell might have been open to a permanent stay at Millwall under Gary Rowett. But those have been quickly extinguished. He will play a key role for Leeds this term.
Leeds actually go to Millwall on September 17, a Sunday clash with a midday kick-off. That will see Cresswell go back to the club in which he played for and impressed with last season. But focus will be on Sunday’s opener.
