Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James says Leeds United star Ethan Ampadu has the potential to become the captain of Wales in the future – with our summer signing becoming a key player.

Ampadu, 23, has been excellent for Leeds since he joined the club for a fee that could reach a huge £10m fee. The Wales star has played every single minute of our Championship campaign, all 18 games.

His performances have exceeded expectation in the eyes of Leeds fans – but for those who are used to Ampadu’s quality in a Wales shirt, it will be of no surprise. Ampadu is set to edge closer to 50 caps.

Wales take on Armenia and then Turkey this month, with Ampadu on 47 caps. Along with the likes of Joe Rodon, Ben Davies, Dan James and Brennan Johnson, he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Of late, Ampadu has partnered James in the middle of the park for Wales – the duo combining superbly to beat Croatia, against Luka Modric and co. James raved about Ampadu, as per quoted by Leeds Live.

“Ethan is a brilliant player and it’s very easy to play with him. I see him as a leader and I study how he plays because he’s somewhere I want to get to. I could see him being captain one day,” James said.
