RB Leipzig are set to play against Udinese in Austria on Tuesday evening and German outlet MDR claim that Yussuf Poulsen will be missing from the clash despite travelling amid reports Leeds have made an offer – due to an injury.
Poulsen, 29, has fallen down the pecking order at Leipzig. The 70-time Denmark star, who has spent the last 11 years at Leipzig and played 358 games, is now the club’s fifth-choice striker. He has a year left on his Leipzig deal.
The forward started just four of 28 games for Leipzig last season. He was behind Andre Silva, Timo Werner and Benjamin Sesko. Now, Leipzig have added another striker – in Belgium striker Loic Openda, from Ligue 1 side Lens.
So, despite being able to play out wide or up top, Poulsen is fifth choice. Turkish outlet Yenicag report that Leeds have made an offer for Poulsen, but Trabzonspor have been given the ‘green light’ with Poulsen unconvinced.
Leipzig now take on Udinese in their second pre-season friendly tonight, after a 7-0 win over German minnows Grimma. Poulsen was missing from that game, too. He will miss tonight’s outing, but MDR say it is due to an injury.

Poulsen will obviously have real sentiment towards Leipzig. Spending 11 years at the club will mean he will want to remain and perhaps leave on a free. But fifth choice in terms of strikers, surely Poulsen realises he needs to leave.
The report from Yenicag states he wants to move to England, but not into the Championship. However, Leeds are the only club to show interest and make an offer. So, a move to Turkey could materialise. But Leeds have a chance.
