Pascal Struijk has emerged as a target for PSG as he continues to shine for Leeds while wearing the captain’s armband – and it is claimed that PSG and the Whites have been in talks for ‘several’ weeks.

Struijk, 24, has missed just one Championship game all season – the 2-1 win over Plymouth. It comes after going under the knife to fix a hernia issue, with Daniel Farke saying he had been playing with pain.

Not only has the Dutch defender been incredibly consistent on the left of the central defence, but he has scored five goals for us in all competitions this term. Angus Kinnear rejected a bid in the summer.

It was reported earlier this week that PSG had ‘attempted’ to sign Struijk come January. L’Equipe delve into the interest a little bit more. They say that Leeds and PSG have been in talks for a while for Struijk.

But, that talks have not been easy with Leeds – as PSG and Leeds fail to agree a fee. Leeds are proving stubborn over Struijk’s asking price. It has seen PSG sign Sao Paulo’s Lucas Beraldo for £17million.

A move for Beraldo is unlikely to end PSG’s interest, but perhaps delay a move until the summer. Which, helps Leeds in their boost for promotion and in turn – potentially keeping Struijk, if promotion is secured.

PSG of course, will be a hugely tempting move for Struijk. Champions League football, the chance to play with players like Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi. Fighting for Ligue 1 titles. He will be tempted.

Leeds should hand the “fantastic” Struijk a new deal. Yes, he still has plenty left on his current deal, but handing him one that reflects his new-found importance – wearing the armband – would be smart.
