Leeds United star Archie Gray has a decision to make in the near future but thankfully, not at club level. Indeed, Scotland are trying to tempt Gray to follow his family tree and calls have been made.
Gray, who turns 18 on Tuesday, has been incredible for Leeds this season. Making his debut during the opening game of the season – against Cardiff – the England U20 man has gone on to play 40 matches.
He has quickly progressed through the England youth ranks, too. Starting the season as an U17, he then won caps for the U19 and U20 squads. England obviously want to keep him, given his huge potential.
But, Scotland are keen to lure him north when it comes to National allegiance. Following in Grandfather Frank, and Great Uncle Eddie’s footsteps by playing for Scotland. But, his loyalties remain with England.
TeamTalk say ‘calls have been made consistently’, and are ongoing. His Father, Andy Gray – who played for Scotland twice – is advising his son to remain with England for now. He is going to bide his time.

Archie Gray a target for Scotland as Leeds United teen shines
Scotland are only doing the right thing in targeting Gray, but given his quality and potential, surely he has to see how the England route plays out. If he wants to win trophies, England gives him that chance.
But the family tree will surely tempt Gray. Eddie and Frank were both born in Scotland and that might have made the decision easier, while his dad, Andy, was born in England and chose to play for Scotland.
That decision was likely because Andy was never going to get a chance at England level. A good striker, but one that largely played in The Football League. Archie has the world at his feet, England is best.
