Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear that it is likely Moises Caicedo joins Alexis Mac Allister in leaving Brighton this summer, and CBS Sports pundit Charlie Davies believes Leeds and USA star Tyler Adams is the ideal replacement.
Caicedo is expected to join World Cup winner Mac Allister in leaving – with the latter said to be close to completing a move to Liverpool. Caicedo was the subject of offers from Arsenal and Chelsea back in the January transfer window.
Brighton will be busy in the market this summer, and have already made a couple of moves. A bid was rejected for on-loan Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, while Joao Pedro will join the club from Watford. It is a record £30m transfer.
But they will need to bring in midfielders – especially, with the Europa League on the horizon. A holding midfielder with plenty of energy will be required to replace Caicedo. Adams is certainly that; he is expected to be on the move.
While Leeds are working hard to keep Adams at Elland Road despite relegation, the belief is that the USA skipper will move on. Davies, an ex-USA striker, told CBS Sports that replacing Caicedo at Brighton is a good move for him.

“Brighton are a good shout. Caicedo is probably leaving and you can get a young player to come in, you’re still in Europe so it is a great spot for Adams. He’s done enough to join a team that isn’t battling relegation every year.”

Indeed, Brighton will also make a profit. Football Transfers recently reported that Brighton are confident Arsenal will sign the £75m-rated Caicedo. Adams may cost less than half that figure. Bola Vip say his exit clause is just £30m.
Is Adams as good as Caicedo? They play almost in a very similar way. One may argue that Caicedo is slightly better on the ball and has more attacking precision with his passes. But they are both energetic, defensive midfielders.
