Leeds United have sprung up the Premier League table to 13th place after a massive 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night – and Brian Deane has posted a hilarious message on Twitter immediately after the win.
Leeds came into the game in the relegation places after Michael Keane’s incredible strike saw Everton snatch a point against Tottenham on Monday. But, Javi Gracia’s men rallied to nab all three points against Forest at home.
Forest actually took the lead. A well-worked goal finished by Oriel Mangala. But Jack Harrison, a man seemingly re-born under Javi Gracia, made it three goals in six under Gracia. He tapped home after Keylor Navas parried a shot.
Then, just before the half-time whistle, good play from Junior Firpo saw Luis Sinisterra cut inside to bend a shot into the far corner past Navas. The scoreline remained the same despite a number of Leeds chances in the second half.
A massive win, and a third in six league games under Gracia since the Spanish boss replaced Jesse Marsch. A total of 10 points from a possible 18. Ex-Leeds star Deane took to Twitter, posting a hilarious Tweet after full-time.
Brian Deane posts hilarious Tweet as Leeds win 2-1 against Forest
What a massive win. A huge win. A win that sees Leeds go into a game with Crystal Palace on Sunday, this weekend, with the confidence that even a draw would be a positive result. But a second win in two games almost saves us.
There were moments of concern. Forest hitting the bar at 0-0 and then of course taking the lead, but as Forest did at the City Ground, Leeds never really looked in danger in the second 45. Really, we should have scored three.
But nevertheless, a priceless win that sees Gracia strengthen his hold on the managerial job moving forward and pushes closer to Premier League survival. A fourth win in seven against Palace would really push us further away.
