Brenden Aaronson says what Leeds United fans did that made him really happy vs Sheffield Wednesday

Brenden Aaronson is quickly winning back the support of Leeds United fans following his decision to return this summer.

Aaronson was one of eight players to leave on loan after Leeds‘ relegation a year ago but made the brave call in June to comeback and give it a go in the Championship.

The 23-year-old was the first to admit he would be in for a frosty reception from Leeds supporters and that is exactly what he got in his first game back against Valencia.

However, those boos have quickly been turning into cheers thanks to his performances on the pitch, which started with an equalising goal against Portsmouth.

Though he should’ve then had the winner that afternoon, Aaronson did net his second of the season at Sheffield Wednesday to set Leeds on their way to a first league win.

Aaronson delighted with what Leeds fans did vs Wednesday

The trip to Hillsborough was actually Aaronson’s first start in the league since returning and he certainly ensured he made the most of it.

Aaronson played on the left in his three previous appearances but was finally handed an opportunity in his favoured number 10 role, linking up play and getting on the scoresehet.

Presumably due to a lack of match fitness, Aaronson did fade during the second half and so that saw him brought off shortly before the end by Daniel Farke.

However, what that did is allow Aaronson to receive a really good reception when he left the field of play, something which left him extremely happy.

Speaking to LUTV, he said: “For sure, it was tough at first coming back. A lot of nerves, a lot of unsure moments, but I could not have asked for the reception I got and the guys in the team welcoming me back, it’s been really good.

“It was always going to be tough at first but with my mindset and mentality, I’m going to do the best I can and I think they know it too.”

Aaronson also has full-time moment with Leeds fans

Aaronson’s teammates will have recognised the situation in which he is coming into, particularly those who were there with him in the Premier League.

Pascal Struijk, Illan Meslier, Junior Firpo, Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford are all likely to have played a big role in him settling back into the club.

With that in mind, they also looked to ensure Aaronson got a really nice moment with the away end at full-time last night.

It is said Aaronson was pushed over to the travelling support to do the customary wave and cheer that comes after a win, which will have no doubt felt good.
