Brenden Aaronson has shared how he was in contact with Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville recently.
Aaronson was speaking in an interview with the Athletic, where he was speaking on his time at Leeds, insisting he has no bitterness towards the club, and is delighted to see them doing so well.
The 23-year-old was one of eight first team players to leave Elland Road on loan in the summer following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship back in May.
After a promising start to his Leeds career, Aaronson endured a nightmare second half of the season and in the end, became a bit of a lightning rod for supporter criticism.
His decision to leave on loan did little to ease the frustration towards him, though that is not something Aaronson concerns himself with, as he says he is happy to see Leeds doing well.
Aaronson says he spoke to Summerville recently
As a matter of fact, Aaronson insists he is doing his best to keep in contact with his former Leeds teammates as much as possible, even speaking to Summerville just a couple of weeks ago.
He said: “I try to stay in contact with all of the players as best I can. I texted Cry (Crysencio Summerville) the other day for his birthday. I see a lot of guys doing great there right now, so I’m really happy for them.
“I don’t have any bitter thoughts or anything like that because I just pride myself on being as positive as I can and rooting for my friends and the team I played for last year. It looks like it’s clicking right now and it’s awesome to see.”
Aaronson was always regarded as a really good person to have around the training ground, but unfortunately it was just the football side of things that didn’t work out.
Clearly he was a well liked member of the dressing room, which is exactly why he is still in contact with people like Summerville.
Given how difficult it must have been for him towards the end of last season, it is nice to see that he is pleased Leeds are doing well.
