The second international break gives Leeds United the chance to breathe. It gives Leeds the chance to take a look at the first seven games, with the transfer window now long in the rear-view mirror.

Leeds will feel satisfied with the eight points secured after seven games, three of which have come against teams in the Champions League. Two wins, two draws, three defeats, but plenty of Leeds fight.

The Whites are playing well, the fans remain on side, and doubts regarding Daniel Farke’s future as Leeds manager are long gone. After the break, two enormous games against Burnley away, home to West Ham.

There have been a few surprises along the way. Karl Darlow has come in for the last four games over Lucas Perri, Jaka Bijol has not yet started a single game, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has remained fit.

But by far the biggest surprise is that Brenden Aaronson is starting games and even more so, becoming undroppable. On Saturday, Aaronson was excellent again, directly involved in Leeds’ goal against Spurs.

In the summer, Aaronson even considered an exit with German clubs keen. Aaronson knew he needed game time ahead of a World Cup hosted in his home nation. Not many will have seen him start for Leeds.

His form last season is a reason for that, but also that Farke has changed formation which has eradicated the need for a no.10. But Aaronson has adapted, and started the last four games as Leeds’ right-winger.

The widely held belief by fans is that Aaronson lacks the physicality for English football. Too weak, unable to keep the ball. The stats prove different. Aaronson wins a duel more often than any of the starting XI.

In the summer, Aaronson was part of the USA squad that reached the Gold Cup final under Mauricio Pochettino. But he was axed by Pochettino for September’s fixtures against South Korea and Japan.

However, Aaronson’s form has now won him a place back in USA’s squad this month, facing Ecuador and Australia in the next fortnight. Aaronson has the bit between his teeth; he has more to fight for right now.

Aaronson needs to continue this run of form, not just for Leeds but for himself, too. One thing is for sure and is proven by the stats, Aaronson can hack the physicality and he will be glad he didn’t leave Leeds.
