Brenden Aaronson has told Pioneer Press that he is “really happy” to be at Union Berlin despite a tricky start which has involved the on-loan Leeds United playmaker picking up a red card in his third outing.
Aaronson, 22, is one of a number of players to leave Leeds on loan this summer. In total, 12 went on loan last summer – including Max Wober, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and plenty others.
Of all of the moves, Aaronson’s perhaps made most sense. Sense in that if Leeds do go back up this season, the USA star might be one Leeds look at as keeping. A loan to help him build up, physically.

Others have burnt their bridges. Llorente, Kristensen, Roca etc. The playmaker has also joined a side in the Champions League. Aaronson was asked on USA duty if he is happy with his decision to join Union.
“Yeah, great, really enjoyed being at Union so far. Of course, I got a red card. Pretty annoying because I had been starting games. But that’s how football goes. I’m not going to not get one,” Aaronson said.
“I’ll probably get more red cards. I don’t want to but it’ll probably will happen throughout my career. But it was a great start and the club have really taken me into the family. I’m really happy to be here.”

Aaronson: Really happy to be at Union Berlin despite tricky start
Of all the players that have left on loan – even the likes of Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra and more – you look at Aaronson and think, he could return after a year with Union, still have an impact at Elland Road.
He needs games at the top level and he needs to get stronger. No doubt. But Leeds paid £25m to sign Aaronson and they need to see some proof of investment. Aaronson is yet to show that – but can do so.
He is young enough to still have an impact – and although he struggled, at least he tried last season. He managed 40 appearances. Of all the players to go out on loan, Aaronson is the one we would have back.
