Robin Koch continued his brilliant form for Eintracht Frankfurt since joining the German club on loan from Leeds United, scoring in a 6-0 win – but German media have described his display as a “bit casual”.
Koch, 27, joined Frankfurt in the summer on a season-long loan – using the clause Victor Orta had put into contracts in the event of relegation. In Koch’s case, he has pretty much ended his Leeds tenure.
That is due to his Leeds contract expiring at the end of the season. At Frankfurt, he has made a superb start. Indeed, he has played every single minute of his side’s 14 games in league and cup, scoring two.
The leader in a back three, Koch has even captained Frankfurt twice – helping them keep six clean sheets and concede just 10 goals. On Thursday, he played a key role in a 6-0 win over HJK Helsinki.
He lasted the entire 90 minutes in the Europa Conference League clash as he continues to knock on Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany door. German media praised him, but said he started slow last night.
Under the title “well done”, Frankfurter Rundschau reported: “Bit casual in the start, which created their only chance. Otherwise, he completed his workload without being challenged. Still found time for a 2-0.”

Koch has been superb. But even if Leeds do go back up, there is little chance of Koch returning to Elland Road. It looks as if that he will be signing a pre-contract come January 1, and signing for them on a free.
Given his contract will enter the last six months, Koch will be allowed to speak to non-English sides from January 1. Unless a big club comes in for him, you would imagine he signs permanently for Frankfurt.
