Ben Parker has told Thursday’s LS11 podcast that Wolves should have been shown a third red card on Saturday afternoon in Leeds United’s 4-2 win at Molineux – but before the two red cards shown to Jonny and Matheus Nunes.
Goals from Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo got the goals as Leeds secured a sixth win of the Premier League season. The second win in four games managed by new gaffer Javi Gracia, at Elland Road.
Wolves were shown two red cards throughout the match. Jonny, rightly so, was shown a straight red after a VAR check for a tackle on Luke Ayling – planting his studs on Ayling, after overrunning the ball. Then, Wolves ace Nunes.
The midfielder was shown a red for apparently pushing an official from the bench – but it has since been appealed, and overturned. Parker believes there should have been another red, in the form of defender Dawson in the first 45.
Following a corner, the ball was headed clear to Harrison – who controlled the ball but slipped. Dawson comes in full pelt, planting his studs onto the shin of Harrison. The Leeds ace needed stitches at half-time and Parker had his say.
“Dawson in the first half, he got a yellow card for the tackle on Harrison. I thought that was a straight red, I really really did. Straight red. Endangering the opponent. Seen the gash, had stitches at HT. I think he got away with one.”

It was an awful tackle. Dawson was shown a yellow card but the English defender’s reaction to his tackle on the Leeds no.11 was telling. While the Wolves players crowded the referee – not the only time – Dawson was apologising.
He knew what he had done to Harrison, and he knew what replays would be showing after the tackle. It was a nasty one. Perhaps, an orange card and luckily enough for Dawson – Harrison was off balance and his studs were low.
