Ben Parker has told Thursday’s LS11 podcast that Leeds United defender Luke Ayling was a “little sore” after being on the receiving end of Jonny’s awful tackle on Saturday afternoon – but has not sustained any long-lasting injuries.
Ayling produced another superb display on Saturday as Leeds nabbed a sixth win of the Premier League season. The 31-year-old star scored his third Premier League goal for the club, and his second against Wolves at Molineux.
Of course, it was an eventful game for Ayling – who was the victim of Jonny’s tackle. A studs-up challenge after the Wolves defender had overrun the ball, going over the ball and planting his studs high into the side of Ayling’s shin.
After VAR, he was sent off. Replays showed the tackle being incredibly nasty, almost bending Ayling’s leg. Parker said he spoke to the ex-Arsenal right-back on Tuesday and asked the Leeds star how he is after Jonny’s challenge.

“He said it wasn’t an ideal challenge. He said it was a little sore afterwards, I presume he’s got a decent bruise and some swelling but he played the whole game didn’t he,” ex-Leeds player Parker said, on Thursday’s LS11 podcast.
Ben Parker says Leeds defender Luke Ayling a little sore after tackle
Ayling saw out the entire game as Leeds secured a 4-2 win at Molineux. But, adrenaline can get you through games and there might have been some concern – judging by the bend of Ayling’s leg – that a ligament could have twisted.
But as Parker says, Ayling is good to go and even if there was a bit of a knock, the international break has come at a good time. He will be ready for the trip to his old club on April 1, when Leeds travel to London to take on Arsenal.
