Ben Parker discusses chances of Pochettino becoming Leeds manager

Ben Parker has joked on the LS11 podcast that he has more chance of winning the lottery than Leeds United do of managing to convince Mauricio Pochettino to take over from Jesse Marsch.

The Whites are continuing their push to find Marsch’s successor after parting company with the American on Monday. Unsurprisingly, a host of names have already been linked with the post.

It would appear that Leeds may be approaching an appointment. The Daily Mail has reported that Victor Orta is in Madrid for talks for Andoni Iraola. Meanwhile, there is interest in Feyenoord’s Arne Slot. And there has been links with Raul.

Leeds have no chance of Pochettino appointment

Leeds are in a precarious position in the Premier League. But that has not stopped supporters dreaming of an audacious appointment. And one of the names some fans have mentioned is Pochettino.

The Argentinian remains out of work after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Of course, he really made a name for himself as a manager with his work in the Premier League, with the likes of Southampton and Tottenham.

Given his ability to improve players and his time out of the game, it seems reasonable to imagine Pochettino setting his sights slightly lower when it comes to his next job. And given his links to Marcelo Bielsa, there is reason to think that Leeds would stand a better chance than most of the sides around them in the table.

Not that those chances are any good, however. Parker was asked about his reaction when it was suggested that Pochettino would be a dream appointment. And his response was quite emphatic.

“I’ve got more chance of winning EuroMillions than that ever happening. I think we just need to be realistic,” he told LS11.

Of course, there is next to no chance of Leeds appointing someone of Pochettino’s calibre. However, it would be wrong of Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta to not ask if there was any interest.

After all, many probably would have said exactly the same had a Leeds fan claimed that Marcelo Bielsa would be their dream target while speculation rumbled on over the future of Paul Heckingbottom.
