Charlie Cresswell has started just one Championship match for Leeds United all season and it came in the second outing of the season, against Birmingham – and now, he has posted on his Instagram.
Cresswell, 21, returned to Leeds in the summer after an excellent loan at Millwall. He signed a new deal at Elland Road and was set to play a large part – and at the start of the season, looked like he would.
He got 37 minutes against Cardiff, 90 minutes at Birmingham and lasted the entire game in both of the Carabao Cup fixtures against Chesterfield and Salford. Since, just two late sub outings in the League.
In our last 11 League games, Cresswell has only been a part of the squad once – an unused sub in the home win over Plymouth. Now, he has posted on Instagram – maybe hinting at a return to the squad.
He posted a picture of himself playing, with the three-word captain “been a while” ahead of Saturday’s key game against second-placed Ipswich on Saturday. Maybe, Cresswell is back in the matchday squad.

Charlie Cresswell hints at Leeds return with post on Instagram
In the most-recent Leeds training video, Luke Ayling was absent ahead of Saturday’s clash against Ipswich. It might be that Cresswell comes in for Ayling, if indeed, the latter is absent this weekend.
Cresswell has certainly deserved more game time but he will know himself that he could have done little, and neither could Daniel Farke, in putting him ahead of Joe Rodon in the starting eleven this season.
But, over the Christmas period, it might be that £4m Cresswell returns to the side with four games in the space of 10 days. Certainly, the FA Cup game against Peterborough will surely see him start again.
