Jon Newsome has urged Leeds United to make signing Joe Rodon permanently a priority in the January transfer window, and shared how much he thinks Tottenham Hotspur may ask for for the Welshman.
Newsome was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds (broadcast on 9/12; 14:40) after Rodon helped Leeds keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Joe Rodon has proved to be an outstanding signing for Leeds. The 26-year-old has looked a class above for much of the campaign following his loan move from Spurs. And he has formed a really impressive partnership with Pascal Struijk.
Jon Newsome wants Leeds to sign Joe Rodon in January
Whoscored shows that Rodon won four tackles against Blackburn on Saturday. Meanwhile, he also made seven clearances as Daniel Farke’s side fought hard for the victory.

Rodon has been so influential since his arrival in the summer. And given the problems we have had at centre-back in the last few years, you can understand why many want his move to become more permanent.
Certainly, Jon Newsome believes that Leeds need to prioritise a move for the former Swansea City man next month.
“Yeah that would be one of my aims for the January window. I just think you need to secure him. I think he’s shown more than enough that he’s a quality player. Whether Tottenham would allow him to leave, I don’t know. That’s another question, but you’ve got to go and ask that question haven’t you,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“Big question really. From this side of the fence, if you rang Tottenham up today and asked them for a number, I think they’d come out and say something like £20 million. I really do.”
Tottenham will surely welcome offers for the defender
The promising news for Leeds is that Rodon had been out of favour for Spurs for some time. When Ben White arrived, he was still working his way up the leagues so it was natural for Brighton to give him the chance to prove himself in the Championship before they considered promoting him again.
Rodon however, has already shown what he can do in the second tier. So Tottenham may not be looking at his loan at Leeds as an audition for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Instead, it presented the defender with the chance to put himself in the shop window.
And on current evidence, Leeds need to act before someone else looks to make a move.
