Jon Newsome has heaped praise on Crysencio Summerville after his heroics for Leeds United in their win over Norwich, insisting that his overall game was actually really good.
Newsome was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after the Dutchman had scored twice to inspire the Whites to an incredible victory at Carrow Road.
Crysencio Summerville is quickly establishing himself as Leeds’ talisman. Not only has he found the back of the net on a number of occasions, but he has earned some big points for Daniel Farke’s men.
There was the stoppage-time equaliser against Cardiff on the opening day, and the recent winner against Queens Park Rangers. And he has now followed that by bagging the brace which saw Leeds come from 2-1 down to beat the Canaries on Saturday.

The goals were outstanding from the youngster. But Jon Newsome felt that his overall performance deserves huge praise after a massive result for Leeds.
“I thought he was good, first-half. Okay, there was one occasion where he’s opened his body up and gone to whip it in the far corner,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I don’t think it’s wasteful. I think he’s three or four inches off that going in off the far post like his second goal was. You can see what he’s trying to do and his execution was nearly, nearly there. I think that’s totally different to, let’s say, Kamara’s opportunity and Piroe’s opportunity where, I think if they watch that back, they’ll admit themselves: ‘I need to do far, far better than that’.
“But I also thought Summerville’s general play was really good.”
Keeping winger was a huge boost in the summer
Newsome is right to laud Summerville’s general play. No player on the pitch could match the six key passes the 21-year-old produced during the game, according to Whoscored. Meanwhile, he completed four of the six successful dribbles Leeds managed throughout the entire contest.
It is huge for Leeds that they fought their way back into the game. Farke must have thought that Saturday was going to prove to be a miserable return to his former club.
We certainly have the attacking depth to blow away anyone in the division. And Willy Gnonto is now back in the ranks after recovering from injury.
Things looked pretty bleak over the summer for Leeds as several players moved on without bringing in a transfer fee.
But the club made some brilliant signings. And in Summerville, they arguably have one of the most exciting players in the entire league still on the books.
