Leigh Bromby has lauded Georginio Rutter after Leeds United’s win over Bristol City on Saturday, insisting that he is the kind of player fans pay to watch.
Bromby was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after the Whites went into the international break with a 2-1 victory at Elland Road, with Dan James and Joel Piroe bagging the goals.
The best chance of the game actually fell to Georginio Rutter. The Frenchman missed an open goal from a couple of yards out, sending Crysencio Summerville’s ball high into the stand.
It was the kind of opportunity which would have left Leeds fans baffled. But Rutter did not let the chance impact his overall performance. The forward just looks to be a class above almost all of the players in the second tier.

In fact, he provided more key passes than any other player on the pitch yesterday, according to Whoscored. And he has further endeared himself to supporters with another performance where he gave everything to the cause.
Certainly, Leigh Bromby is excited for what Rutter could do once he does add that ruthless edge to his game in front of goal.
“He is an enigma. And he’s a player you pay to come and watch because you don’t know what’s going to happen,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“He can light it up. And his effort today cannot be knocked. He gave 100 percent. He got a standing ovation when he came off. And he’s enjoyable to watch.”
Rutter’s form this season does little to change the fact that he was the wrong signing for Leeds when he came in during the January transfer window.
However, that was not the 21-year-old’s fault. And you can only applaud him for what he has done since coming to Leeds.
Whenever he did feature last season, he gave it his all – even if he really struggled. And when he was out of the fold, there seemed to be very little suggestion that he was unhappy or ready to leave. In fact, it was noticeable how little speculation there was surrounding his future in the summer. That certainly hints that he was always ready to stay and prove himself.
Of course, he could bag a few more goals. But as Bromby suggests, he is the player getting fans out of their seats right now.
And if Leeds are able to return to the Premier League, Rutter is much more likely to now have the tools to show what he can actually do at the very highest level.
