Neil Redfearn has told BBC Radio Leeds that he thought Brenden Aaronson had one of his best games for Leeds United in their dramatic win over Wolves on Saturday.

Once again, Leeds go into the March international break off the back of a bizarre victory at Molineux. Whites fans would not have been too optimistic heading into the clash with Leeds winning one game on the road all season.

However, Leeds were clinical, winning the game 4-2 to move right up the table.

Redfearn praises Aaronson after Leeds win

Perhaps surprisingly, Javi Gracia decided to stick with Aaronson in the position just behind the striker. The American has really not had a good time in the side over the last few months. In fact, his last superb performance arguably came all the way back at Anfield when we secured our last away win.

It seemed to be another frustrating day for the 22-year-old. He did not manage to match what the likes of Jack Harrison and Willy Gnonto were able to create. And some supporters may have been tempted to take him off before the 81st minute, when he was replaced.

However, Redfearn saw the game differently, suggesting that there was a lot to like about Aaronson’s display.

“I thought Aaronson probably one of his better games. He had a little bit more freedom in behind Bamford up front. He needs to add goals to his game if he’s going to be that attacking midfield player. But I thought he was better today,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“That’s as good as I’ve seen Aaronson play. He still needs to offer a goal threat, but I thought he played well, gave them good energy.”

Leeds are now in the unfamiliar position of having something of an embarrassment of riches in attack. Rodrigo and Luis Sinisterra are coming back from injury. Patrick Bamford is even closer to rediscovering his full sharpness.

Gnonto and Harrison was excellent at times at Molineux. Crysencio Summerville set up the fourth goal. And Georginio Rutter has shown glimpses of his talent.

With that, Aaronson has to now step it up. If he cannot rediscover his early season form, Gracia will surely have no choice but to take him out of the side.
