Barry Bannan helped Sheffield Wednesday keep Leeds United at bay on Saturday afternoon – and gave his verdict on the Whites following the 0-0 draw, saying there aren’t many tougher places to go and play.

Leeds huffed and puffed on Saturday but could not blow down Wednesday’s defence. Leeds had 16 shots at goal, but only four on target. Wednesday had chances too. It is a clean sheet for Illan Meslier.

Our first clean sheet of the season, in the seventh game. So, that is a positive – but it was another frustrating one for players and fans alike as Wednesday held on to a share of the spoils. Six, from five.

Not promotion form, at this early stage – and while the belief is that it will get better, Daniel Farke needs to start putting together a run of form that sees Leeds remind all that we are in the promotion running.

Speaking after captaining Wednesday and lasting the entire 90 minutes, 33-year-old Bannan – a former Leeds loanee – gave his verdict on Leeds. He said he does not expect many tougher tests than Leeds.

“There won’t be many tougher places to come, especially with no points. It shows the attitude of the boys and the desire we’ve got in that changing room to go there and fight and get a point for the club.”

Barry Bannan delivers verdict on Leeds as Wednesday grab draw

While Bannan is right, Leeds need to start showing it. On paper, Leeds have some of the best players in the league. The likes of Willy Gnonto, Joel Piroe, Crysencio Summerville, Joe Rodon and plenty more.

But it is now down to Farke to turn this new-look Leeds, a team full of individuals, in to a cohesive unit. Relationships on the pitch is key. Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk are complimenting eachother very well.

More like that is key. The quicker Leeds can start gelling, and connecting on the pitch, the better. A couple of wins will certainly aid the confidence. A run is needed after the international break.
