A report from Italian outlet TMW claims that Joel Pohjanpalo has a bargain release clause of £3.5m in his Venezia contract – after it emerged this week that Leeds United and West Ham are two of four English clubs keen on a move.
Pohjanpalo, 28, has embarked on somewhat of a journeyman career around Europe – playing for nine different clubs in four countries. Finland, Germany, Turkey and now, Italy. Last season, he scored 19 goals in 38 games for Venezia.
The 63-time Finland star, though, failed to help Venezia gain promotion to Serie A – with the club finishing in eighth place in the second tier. After only a year with Venezia, he will fancy his chances at maybe, a club in English football.
West Ham are likely to be on pole. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Hammers want him – especially after cashing in on Gianluca Scamacca who has joined Atalanta. The report also says Leeds, Blackburn and Norwich are all keen.

Bargain. Absolute no-brainer. Pohjanpalo is a striker with Premier League quality, proving as much last season with his 19 goals for Venezia. A player that can play in numerous positions – as a 10, or out wide. Hard-working, too.
A player about to enter his prime, with huge experience – not only in numerous leagues, allowing him to adapt but also, his international exposure. A regular alongside Glen Kamara. Plenty of character, and he likes a beer as well.
Some may have seen him enjoying a beer on the bench last season after being substituted off. Following his two assists against SPAL in February, he celebrated with a pint before full-time. So, for £3.5m, Leeds must move.
