Patrick Bamford was left furious with Brenden Aaronson just before half-time during Leeds United’s clash with Wolves on Saturday after the attacking midfielder decided against attempting to find the striker with a through ball and instead tried his luck from 30 yards, as reported by Leeds Live.
Saturday felt like a massive moment for the Whites. Javi Gracia’s men flew up the Premier League table after a surprise 4-2 victory at Molineux.
It was not always pretty. But Leeds were clinical in front of goal to pick up a massive three points in the fight for survival.
Bamford loses his cool with Aaronson in Leeds win
You could certainly feel how tense it was on a couple of occasions. Of course, Wolves getting two goals back at 3-0 down was a scary moment. But it seems that the players could not help but lose their cool at certain times.
And for Bamford, that moment came just as the board went up for stoppage-time at the end of the first-half. Leeds won possession back, with Willy Gnonto producing a couple of lovely touches.
A one-two with Junior Firpo led to the Italy international finding Marc Roca. And the Spaniard managed to then play in Aaronson. That prompted Bamford to make a run between the centre-backs.
However, rather than attempt to find the 29-year-old, Aaronson decided to try his luck from distance.
Watching the incident back, Bamford’s arms were up before Aaronson’s strike had even gone past him. And he immediately turned to vent his anger at the youngster as the shot ended up high into the stands.
Aaronson is having a really tough time on the pitch right now. He has looked almost nothing like the player who was such a livewire in the previous league meeting with Wolves.
Gracia has stuck by him. But Leeds now have an embarrassment of riches in the final third. And with that, there is surely little doubt that he is facing a fight to keep his place after the international break.
The likes of Rodrigo, Georginio Rutter, Luis Sinisterra and Crysencio Summerville are all waiting in the wings. So an assist on Saturday would have been very welcome.
