Glen Kamara missed a golden opportunity to put Leeds United 2-0 up in the first half at Rotherham United and Jon Newsome has blasted the summer signing – describing Kamara’s finish as “awful”.
Leeds were leading 1-0 thanks to Crysencio Summerville’s seventh goal of the season early on, curling a gorgeous shot into the far corner after a wonderful assist from Georgie Rutter. Things looked very good.
But Leeds could not capitalise on their first-half dominance. Kamara boasted the best chance to put us 2-0 up, as Leeds countered from a Rotherham corner. Summerville drove Leeds up the pitch, in attack.
Kamara, on the overlap. The £6m man, who is not renowned for his scoring and is yet to find the net for Leeds, perhaps found himself in unusual territory. Eight yards out, he shoved the ball into side netting.
A really poor finish, in what was a golden chance for the Fin to not only open his account, but put Leeds into a 2-0 lead. Instead, Rotherham equalised towards the end of the first half. Newsome, not happy.

Speaking as co-commentator on BBC Radio Leeds, Newsome said: “That was so wasteful, it was four against two at one point. Summerville does fantastic, no one was catching him. It was an awful finish.”
Jon Newsome blasts Glen Kamara for awful Leeds United finish
Kamara looked as though he was tired from international duty. A solid enough performance in midfield, but nowhere near the standards he has set himself. Pretty much the same can be said about the rest.
Leeds were miles off it. Perhaps, the international break had a lasting effect on some of our players. Even the likes of Georgie Rutter and Ethan Ampadu were far from their best. Kamara should score.
