Hear us out on this one. Leeds need a number 10. They need a player that offers top-quality cover for Jack Harrison and Raphinha, and one that gives them some flair. West Ham United are reportedly ready to offload Felipe Anderson for just £7million, and Leeds have got to be on red alert.
Joining West Ham in 2018 in a club-record move from Lazio, the Brazil international instantly hit the ground running at West Ham. He sparkled in his first season with the Hammers, having a hand in 15 goals during 40 games. But his form worsened in 2019-20, scoring once in 28 outings.
He had seemingly become disillusioned at West Ham. A player that needs to be given a bit of love to get the best out of him, West Ham chose to ship him out on loan to Porto – but Porto’s style didn’t suit him, playing just 10 games. Now, he is in the final 12 months of his contract at West Ham.
Anderson would be a bargain for Leeds
Italian website CalcioMercato claim Lazio – one of Marcelo Bielsa’s former sides – have been offered the chance to sign Anderson for just £7million. Meanwhile, Leeds could do with a bit of Brazilian flair to go alongside Raphinha in the final third. At his best, Anderson is capable of anything.
A 10 is needed, while Leeds lack top-quality cover for Harrison and Raphinha. Ian Poveda is still learning the ropes, while Helder Costa could be sold. Anderson would be ideal and despite his poor form, he would be a bargain for a figure of £7million. He solves a couple of areas at Leeds.
Yes, he is far from his best right now. But if Bielsa can get the best out of Anderson, then he is a bargain at £7million and Leeds could do with him.
