Football London report that Arsenal are looking to sell USA international Auston Trusty this summer on a permanent deal after he starred for Birmingham City on loan during 2022-23 – and Leeds United should consider making a bid.
Trusty, 24, joined Arsenal from Colorado Rapids in January 2022. A move that saw him immediately loaned back to the MLS side – before joining Birmingham for 2022-23. He won the Player of the Season award at St. Andrews.
Despite the mess in the boardroom at Birmingham, Trusty and co. managed to finish nine points above the drop zone. Trusty missed just two of his side’s 50 matches in all competitions, helping the Blues keep 13 clean sheets.
His form has even earned him his first USA cap. So, a brilliant year for Trusty and he returns to Arsenal where it seems Mikel Arteta is not even going to give him a look. Trusty seems to have been signed simply, to win a profit.
Bought for £1.6m 18 months ago, Arsenal are now going to sell him on – after proving himself to be very capable in the Championship – and since, winning a USA cap. Indeed, a player that nearly joined us before moving to Arsenal.

“I had a few teams [interested], I was actually going to Leeds,” Trusty told the Deeney Talks podcast in April. “Then Arsenal came in. I basically said, ‘make this happen.’ I let my agent do all that kind of stuff. I just focus on football.”
Arsenal looking to sell Trusty and Leeds should consider making bid
While Arsenal will look for a profit, he is not going to cost an enormous amount. But a player that starred in the second tier – and has proven he is good enough to play for a Championship team pushing for promotion next May.
Having almost joined Leeds, Trusty would be open to the idea with Arsenal selling. Leeds are expected to cash in on Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, increasing need for a right-sided centre-back to compete with Charlie Cresswell.
If Leeds could strike a deal to sign the Birmingham City Player of the Season for a fee in the region of £5m, then it is a deal worth doing. Solid competition for Cresswell on the right side of the central defence. Any more, then no.
