Antoine Semenyo has already inflicted misery on Leeds this season.

The Bournemouth No.24 scored at Elland Road back in September as Leeds were held to a 2-2 draw, a match in which Joe Rodon also found the scoresheet with a thumping header.

Semenyo has now made a comment about the Welshman which may surprise a few Leeds supporters.

Antoine Semenyo admits he couldn’t get near Joe Rodon when facing the Leeds United defender for Newport County

Speaking to AwayDays on YouTube, the Ghana international was asked to name one of his toughest opponents who might not immediately spring to mind, such as Virgil van Dijk.

Where does Joe Rodon rank in the list of Leeds’ best-ever signings? 🤔

Semenyo said: “I’ve actually got one from Leeds. Rodon, Joe Rodon. Yeah. So I was on loan for Newport. We played… I think it was Tottenham in preseason and he was unbelievable. Like, couldn’t get near him. His touch is perfect. He was just so clean.”

The Leeds No.6 has made a name for himself as something of a bruiser at the back, who would head a brick wall if it meant his side won some points.

However, Rodon is a much better footballer than people think.

Not only did Semenyo struggle to handle his “perfect” touch, but the Wales international actually made more successful passes than any other player throughout FIFA World Cup qualifying, which speaks volumes about his quality in possession.

£10m Joe Rodon deal has proven to be a Leeds United masterstroke

When Rodon arrived in a permanent £10m switch from Tottenham in July 2024 after an initial loan spell, it was a bittersweet moment given the fact the deal saw Archie Gray move to Spurs for £30m.

However, while every Leeds fan would still surely have Gray back, it has since proven to be a genius move.

This is difficult: Who is Leeds United’s best signing so far? 🤑

Explain why!

Rodon has become a figurehead at Leeds and has also developed into a more rounded player – not only is he shining when it comes to passing, but he was also clocked running at a faster speed than Dan James during qualification for Wales, so he is no slouch either.

With two-and-a-half years still to run on his contract, Leeds fans could quite easily claim to have a £40m defender on their books in the inspirational 28-year-old.
