Italian outlet Club Doria 46 claims Andrea Radrizzani‘s Sampdoria are planning a permanent offer for Leeds United defender Diogo Monteiro and could make an official approach in the ‘coming days’ – after he joined us in January.
Born in 2005, 18-year-old Monteiro joined Leeds in January. He came in from Swiss side Servette having broken into their first team, playing seven times. Boasting Portugal U19 caps, he is the current captain of Portugal’s U18 side.
But Monteiro is yet to make his first-team debut. Instead, playing for the 21’s and helping them win the play-offs last season. He was on the bench for three Premier League games, two of which came under interim Michael Skubala.
The report now claims that Monteiro is attracting interest. Italian website Il Secolo previously said that Radrizzani wanted to raid Leeds for Monteiro, Leo Hjelde and Mateo Joseph. He has appointed Andrea Pirlo as his new gaffer.

Hjelde and Joseph are expected to be heavily involved in the first team this season. But Monteiro was left on the bench in Oslo against Manchester United, Daniel Farke preferring to bring in duo Kris Moore and Jeremiah Mullen.
It might be a sign, that with Charlie Cresswell returning, Monteiro is some way down the pecking order. He is behind Moore – who was arguably the 21’s best defender last season – and Mullen, who scored in the PL2 play-offs for us.
Monteiro might be allowed to go, then. The report claims the £1m signing is being targeted by Radrizzani and the ex-Leeds chairman could table an official bid in the ‘coming days’. The report suggests it could be a permanent bid.
