Andrea Radrizzani did something ‘truly absurd’ at Leeds United that’s now come back into the public eye

Andre Radrizzani didn’t exactly get Leeds United fans to leave a glowing review of his time with the club.

The Italian businessman didn’t cover himself in glory, and the best thing he actually did was sell Leeds to the 49ers for £170m.

Radrizzani made some peculiar decisions at the club, one of which left Marcelo Bielsa unhappy after selling Ronaldo Viera.

But this was just one error he made in the six years he was with the club, as ultimately, his time with the Whites lead to fans asking for him to sell up.

He eventually did in the season Leeds got relegated from the Premier League, and it seems his disappearing act has risen to the surface once again.

Andrea Radrizzani told he did something ‘truly absurd’ at Leeds United

The relationship between the owner and fans wasn’t exactly a close one, to say the least.

Radrizzani has felt ‘insulted’ by Leeds fans, and this comes as no surprise with the Italian using Elland Road as a way of buying Sampdoria in 2023, as he used the stadium as collateral for a £26m bank loan.

This summed up his time with the club, but his next stint with Sampdoria didn’t exactly go any better.

Former Sampdoria midfielder Loris Boni is very unhappy with Radrizzani as like Leeds, he disappeared from his public-facing role at the Italian side in October 2023.

Fans started to rebel against this new direction being taken by Radrizzani, and now Boni has used the Italian’s handling of Leeds as an example of why Sampdoria find themselves in Italy’s second division.

Speaking to SampdoriaNews.net, Boni said: “In the 2022/23 season, Leeds were relegated and sold by Mr. Radrizzani… In short, perhaps mindful of such a great failure, certain management errors and, above all, truly absurd human choices should not have been made.

“Amateur management with people who worked with themselves supported by agents who parked alleged players with a disarming technical background.

“In England, the word resignation exists without anyone asking for it in the face of a failure.”

Leeds will be glad they’re now rid of Radrizzani

It seems that wherever Radrizzani goes, disaster follows.

He did have some strong moments with Leeds as Radrizzani thought of the Elland Road expansion idea, which is now coming to fruition today.

But his overall tenure was fairly underwhelming, as him ditching the club after relegation sums up the type of character he is.

Although the 49ers haven’t been perfect, they’ve made solid choices, and they’ll stick by the club through thick and thin.

For their sake, the 49ers hope the toxicity of the Radrizzani reign doesn’t emerge during their ownership.
