New Everton star Jack Harrison has compared Toffees manager Sean Dyche with Leeds United legend Marcelo Bielsa on the Daily Mail’s website – saying he wished he enjoyed his time under Bielsa more.
Harrison, 25, spent five years at Elland Road. He spent three years on loan, before signing permanently with us. He signed a new deal with Leeds until the summer of 2028 – shortly before we were relegated.
Recovering from injury, Harrison has only played three times for Everton since swapping Leeds for Goodison Park. Last time out, the Englishman starred in a 3-0 win over Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth.
A side that also boast Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams – Harrison got a goal and an assist for Everton. The ex-New York City star discussed Bielsa and Dyche, explaining the differences between the duo.

“Everything was so regimented with Marcelo. Sean likes to put emphasis on family and it’s been nice to spend a bit more time at home. When we’re in, we get our heads down and work hard,” Harrison said.
“Marcelo’s tactics were different. Man-to-man marking, running beyond anything I’d seen. Three years flew by. Some amazing moments. He made the player I am today. I wished I’d enjoyed it a little bit more.”
Everton star Harrison compares Dyche with Leeds icon Bielsa
Two completely different managers in terms of tactics and by what Harrison says, off the pitch, too. What Bielsa and Dyche do have in terms of similarities, is a directness and keenness to go forward.
They do it differently, but Bielsa wants his players to flood the opposition box – more players forward, more chances of a goal. For Dyche, bypassing the midfield at some points and looking for a knockdown.
Harrison has had to adapt – going from a manager like Bielsa, to Dyche. But he impressed last time out and you would imagine that if Everton avoid relegation – Harrison will be key to their campaign.
