Leeds United youngster Charlie Crew trained with Wales’ senior squad on Monday.

That is according to LUFC Youth, who are a reliable Twitter account who covering all things Leeds, specialising in academy news.

Crew had initially been called up to Wales’ U21s squad for the current international break but was promoted to train with the seniors alongside Cardiff City’s Rubin Colwill, as per BBC journalist Dafydd Pritchard.

Crew has not been officially added to Wales’ squad for upcoming matches against South Korea and Latvia, but this was his first taste of being alongside the seniors.

The 17-year-old will have been helped into the session by Leeds teammates Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu, both of whom moved to Elland Road in the summer.

Despite his age, Crew is already one of Leeds’ stand-out players in the U21s having started all four of their PL2 matches so far.

Crew is yet to even make the bench for a first team match at Leeds but is extremely highly-rated at the club and could be the next off the production line alongside Archie Gray.

His preferred position is that holding midfield role just in front of the defence and so training with Ampadu both for club and country can only be beneficial.

Ampadu has been Leeds’ signing of the season so far and has clearly already mastered that number four position, which Crew will be able to take pointers from.

It will be interesting to see if Crew does enough in the U21s to earn a first taste of senior action at Leeds at some point this season.
