Aidy White told BBC Radio Leeds on Saturday evening after a win over Plymouth that Archie Gray‘s family will keep his head on his shoulders – amid reports Liverpool want the Leeds United teenager.

Gray started once again for Leeds on Saturday, this time at right-back as he continues to get the nod over Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton – with Djed Spence injured. He was excellent, in his 17th outing.

His form is not going unnoticed, at the tender age of 17. The Mail claim that Liverpool have watched the talent, and are preparing a bid for next summer – while Leeds have slapped a £50m price tag on him.

Everton and Crystal Palace are also said to be interested, but probably not at that kind of figure. White, an ex-Leeds left-back and winger, says he knows Gray’s family and they will keep the star grounded.

“He has got sensible people around him who have had amazing careers – his family and dad. I spoke to his dad. He plays everything down like he has got to improve, he will keep his head on his shoulders.

“With all these links cropping up, no doubt about it he will have his family around him and they will keep him grounded. Hopefully, for now, the right call is to stay here, play football and learn your trade here.”

Keeping Gray is crucial. The midfielder is a huge talent and the future of this side, probably our midfield and has the potential to be a Leeds captain, a Premier League player and a regular England international.

He is playing in this Leeds side as if he is a seasoned veteran, while also boasting the physicality of one much older. Yet, he is doing all of this at just 17. Leeds must keep Gray, and Gray should look to stay.
