The deal that took Jack Harrison from Leeds United to Everton on loan has left an unnamed agent completely baffled.

That is according to an article from the Athletic, who report an agent told them that a player leaving the Championship for the Premier League is ‘bizarre’.

Harrison was one of eight members of Leeds‘ first team squad to leave on loan as he made the switch to Everton who were also battling against relegation last season.

Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Brenden Aaronson, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Luis Sinisterra all also left Elland Road for various different top-flight clubs across Europe.

Of the aforementioned eight, only Harrison and Sinisterra were able to secure moves back to the Premier League, with the latter having been involved in a swap deal that saw Jaidon Anthony come the other way.

Agent labels Harrison loan move to Everton as ‘bizarre’

In an article produced by the Athletic earlier today, agents across the game were quizzed on who they thought did the best transfer business in the Premier League during the summer.

This particular unnamed agent believes Everton’s business is up there with the worst and cannot understand why Harrison was not brought in permanently.

“Beto seems to be decent but Ashley Young on a free and (Arnaut) Danjuma who turned them down six months ago, Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds — I do think he’s a good player, but it’s a bit bizarre that you’re loaning a player ‘up’. You’d think Everton would be buying.”

Ultimately, Everton were able to take advantage of a loan clause in Harrison’s contract that was stupidly included despite the fact he only signed a new deal in April at a point when Leeds were looking likely for the drop.

As per David Ornstein, Everton are likely to pursue a permanent move for Harrison in ‘due course’, but that is far from a guarantee given they are likely to be fighting to beat the drop once again.
