Largie Ramazani won his first Leeds United start on Saturday afternoon and he got his name on the score sheet as Daniel Farke’s side eased past Cardiff City in Wales.

A third win in six Championship games and a fourth clean sheet against a struggling Cardiff side was enough to secure all three points and return to the top six places in the Championship table at this stage.

Joel Bagan’s red card helped Leeds ease to a win without really exceeding second gear. Ramazani had come in to the side after Manor Solomon was ruled out due to a back injury following the Burnley loss.

Put though on goal by Mateo Joseph, Ramazani finished superbly past former Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick with a curled left-footed finish into the bottom corner. He posted on Instagram after the match.

Ramazani then missed a sitter to put Leeds 2-0 up, while Pascal Struijk could not convert a penalty. But Joel Piroe came off the bench to score with his second of the season, and his 15th since arriving at Leeds.

It is another week before Leeds are in action again and it will be interesting to see if Ramazani retains his place in the Leeds side. But he has certainly staked his claim to start, even if Solomon is fit next week.

One thing is for sure, and it is that Leeds have signed a promising talent in the form of Ramazani for just £10m. Indeed, Villa’s £50m midfielder Onana responded to his post, saying: “The only way is up”.

It was composure in a heated moment. Leeds had failed to break the deadlock beforehand against a 10-man Cardiff side and had Leeds gone into the break at 0-0, fans would have started to become worried.

But Ramazani showed no sign of nerves as he beared down on goal, before slamming an effort into the bottom corner. Dorigo applauded Ramazani for his work in getting in on goal and then taking his chance.

But also, his celebration: “Excellent goal, I’ve just done my back in watching that celebration. What a brilliant finish it was, forget that slip, that’s how you show them what you can do.”
