Charlie Cresswell is back in training after two months on the sidelines after fracturing his eye socket while on loan at Millwall in April – as the Leeds United talent prepares for what could be his breakthrough season at Elland Road.
Having been on the periphery of the Leeds squad previously, managing just seven senior games, Cresswell was sent on loan to Millwall. He starred in the Championship, although injury limited him to 30 games. He scored five goals.
That impressive form has seen Leeds make a decision on the £4m man. With Leeds willing to let him go in January amid interest from Middlesbrough – as per The Sun – now, Leeds Live say he is part of the senior plans for 23-24.
Diego Llorente and Robin Koch are more than likely to depart this summer, meaning Cresswell is needed. The club need a new right-sided centre-back and that is where Cresswell could step in. Good news, then, that he is back.
Indeed, the centre-back posted images of himself on social media alongside Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp as the England U21’s prepare for Euro 2023 in Georgia – where they face Germany, Israel and the Czech Republic.

There might be a scenario in which Cresswell becomes the club’s starting right-sided centre-back. Koch is in the final year of his deal and has strong ambitions with his National Team. Playing in the Championship will not help him.
Llorente looks set for Roma. Rasmus Kristensen is sticking around, but naturally he is a right-back and plenty are coming in for Cody Drameh this summer. So, there is a lack of options at centre-back and Cresswell will be crucial.
Having already clocked up eight England U21 caps, Cresswell is likely to be a regular for the Young Lions this month. Currently on a three-day training camp, they return before flying to Georgia for this month’s European competition.
