Marcos Abad has posted on Twitter after the Spaniard was confirmed as one of a number of coaches to leave the club following the arrival of manager Daniel Farke at Leeds United – describing his six-year stay as “wonderful”.
Abad, 37, joined Leeds in 2017. It comes after working with Victor Orta at Elche as a goalkeeping coach. Orta then took him to Middlesbrough, and then on to Leeds where he has remained for the last six years, joining in 2017.
He worked with the likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Illan Meslier, Kiko Casilla, Joel Robles and Kris Klaesson during his time at Elland Road. But on Tuesday, Leeds confirmed Abad is one of four Elland Road exits after Farke left.
Guillermo Alonso, Paco Gallardo and Jordan Davison have also left their roles, the latter working as a performance analyst. Abad took to Twitter after it was confirmed he was leaving, thanking the club and us as fans for his spell.

The difference between a head coach, and a manager, is being seen. Farke has been confirmed as the club’s new manager, not head coach – signing a four-year deal at Elland Road. Already, he is making a number of changes.
There are going to be a number of changes over the next four weeks, and it is not simply within the playing staff. Abad will obviously require replacing, as will some of the other members that have left Leeds as per the statement.
Perhaps, a little bit of a blessing in disguise. While Abad oversaw Leeds gaining promotion as goalkeeping coach, the likes of Meslier, Peacock-Farrell and Casilla have struggled during their time at Leeds. Farke is making moves.
