Everyone will remember Adryan. The Brazilian playmaker was one of a number of signings made by Massimo Cellino in his first summer as Leeds United owner back in 2014. Now, he’s a free agent.
Leeds fans will remember the fresh-faced Brazilian arriving on loan from Flamengo in a season that saw Leeds start the season with Dave Hockaday, then Darko Milanic, and then Neil Redfearn as caretaker.
Cellino made 14 signings that summer. Including current captain Liam Cooper, and club icon Gaetano Berardi. Another on that long list included the loan addition of Adryan from Brazilian side Flamengo.
He instantly brought flair to Elland Road – step overs, tricks, and an excitement. But also, diving. His bizarre dive, flinging himself into the air against Derby. Adryan managed just 13 games while at Leeds.
Adryan went on to shine for Nantes in France and then score 14 goals in 49 for Swiss side Sion – after loans at Kayserispor in Turkey, and Avai in Brazil. In January of this year, he joined Serie B side Brescia.
Adryan a free agent at just 29 after Massimo Cellino release
A club owned by none other, than Cellino. A man that has also brought Pep Clotet to the club as boss on three separate occasions, in two years. Adryan played nine times during the second half of last term.
In the summer, he left Brescia in the summer – released by Cellino’s side, failing to win a deal and at the still-young age of 29, Adryan remains without a club. A free agent, since July. Quite a fall from grace.
Certainly, there is still a player in Adryan. A playmaker that starred in Swiss football and at Ligue 1 level, managed to score and create goals with Nantes. But his career has fallen down the toilet, of late.
